Stunning just like a Peacock
Mr and I visited The Peacock on a whim just to have a nosey. We hadn't booked and thought we'd just have a beverage and scope it out. I think the establishment is 1400 circa? Might be 1300s. On entering, I knew at once I wanted a meal one day as the cosy bar and surroundings enveloped me. And us, as it turned out. The feeling of hospitable warmth was abundant. We ordered drinks, and I cheekily asked if there were any meal spots left ( it was a Sunday afternoon ). Very fortunately, there was!! Yay.
The pub has a strong wartime theme on the walls in corner cabinets and on the ceiling. Awesome 'many' pieces jigsaw puzzles that look wonderful in frames on the ceiling. Donated by a talented regular whose name I didn't get. But she was there this day.
We both had roasts and veg that were perfectly cooked displayed and brought to us by the friendliest ladies.
Ample parking available. Fresh clean ladies loo. And.....well behaved doggies are welcome. Very important

A great find after visiting Sissinghurst.
The traditional bar area gives way to a large dining space, lunch menu varied and exactly what we were looking for. Staff were brilliant too
